FITNESSGRAM

Georgia mandates the following test components of the Fitnessgram.

 

*PACER or mile run

*Sit-and-reach test for flexibility

*Curl-up

*Push-up

*Height and weight for body mass index

 

The principal mission of the FITNESSGRAM program is to promote lifelong physical activity among youth. It is a comprehensive fitness assessment and includes a variety of health-related physical fitness tests designed to assess cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.

 

The mission, goals, and program components of FITNESSGRAM are embedded within a unifying philosophy that guides program development. This philosophy is known as the "HELP Philosophy." HELP is an acronym specifying that "health is available to everyone for a lifetime-and it's personal."
